The Department of State Services has invited Garba Abdullahi, a collaborator with Tracka NG, a sub-division of BudgIT Nigeria, a civil society organisation, after receiving death threats following an exposé on Senator Philip Aduda, the lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This was disclosed in a statement published by Tracka on its page on Thursday.
Tracka – a platform which tracks the implementation of public projects across the country – said Abdullahi, described as its “community champion”, will honour the invitation alongside its lawyers.

Tracka had in a post on Twitter last Saturday claimed that Senator Aduda of converting a public project in his constituency worth N225 million to his private property.
The CSO alleged that the lawmaker was aided in converting the Karu Town Hall project in the Karu area of the FCT by the Ministry of Water Resources, adding that he renamed as the Jummai Aduda Youth in honour of his mother.

In a statement issued by Iyanu Fatoba, Communications Associate of BudgIT, on Monday, the organisation alleged that Abdullahi has received death threats from persons loyal to the FCT Senator, with statements such as “take care of him” and “do him something bad”.
The organisation called on Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police, to investigate the threats.

It is, however, not known if the DSS invited Abdullahi based on the threats or the allegations against Senator Aduda.
