The Department of State Services (DSS) says there was no joint operation between it and any other country’s military in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city.
Newsbreak.ng reports that there have been several media reports that the DSS in conjunction with some American soldiers conducted a raid on phase 3, Trademore Estate in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where they arrested a suspected terrorist.
Adewale Adenaike, the Chairman of the Estate made the claim.
“It happened on Monday. We were in our houses when our estate was locked up. Nobody going out, nobody coming into the estate. As the chairman, I came out to find out what was happening in the estate. I discovered it was a sting operation by our DSS and some American soldiers, and it was alleged, I repeat, it was alleged, right, that they were looking for somebody who had suspected terrorist activity,” Adenaike had said.
But reacting to that claim on Friday, Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesperson, told Daily Trust: “No joint operation between DSS and any other country’s military took place in Abuja.”
