Marc Crosas, a former La Masia academy graduate, has said Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona’s coach, is dull hence his team’s poor showing so far in the current season.
The reigning Liga champions have suffered three defeats in just 11 games with uninspiring performances in the Champions League to highlight the team’s lacklustre performance this season.
“Barcelona have become a dull team because they reflect their coach.
“Valverde is a good coach and he has done important things, as he has won two league titles, but he is dull,” Crosas said in a chat with RAC1.
“The question isn’t whether Barcelona are losing their identity, it has already been lost,” Crosas added.
“Barcelona no longer have their own philosophy.
“It’s not just about winning matches, the problem is how to recover that lost DNA.”
Crosas slammed the team for its 3-1 loss at Levante over the weekend, a shock result. He said it has become somewhat normal for the current Barcelona to struggle away from home. He was quick to add that the team also suffered same fate last season, pointing at the team’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in the semi-final of the Champions League.
Barca will be at home to Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday, before then playing host to Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday.
