Women in Ebonyi state, protested naked over the detention of the president general of the community, Ndubuisi Ekumankama, who allegedly demolished a widow’s house in Amangwu Edda community of Ebonyi State.

It was said that the women were on their way to the Ebonyi State Government House in Abakaliki, but were stopped by policemen at Nkwegu, near a military cantonment and were restricted from gaining access to the city.

The Ebonyi state police commissioner, Ibekwe Abdallah, sent policewomen to curtail the situation as the policemen’s effort were futile because of the naked women. He said the women had planned the protest last week and were advised to seek redress as the president has been charged to court.

The Ebonyi state  police public relations officer, George Okafor has described their action as a shameful act to the Igbo culture.
