The Edo State Joint Security Task Force, on Saturday, arrested seven suspected kidnappers in the state.

The suspects were arrested around Ogbemudia oil palm plantation, along Benin/Auchi highway.
The taskforce also raided the notorious Upper Sakponba area of Benin City, the state capital, and some riverine communities.
Maj.- Gen A. Omozoje, General Officer Commanding 2 Division, had met with the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, before the commencement of the operation.

Omozoje promised to bring an end to the recent rise in criminality in the state, and support efforts to recapture prisoners who had escaped from the two federal correctional facilities in Benin City during the #EndSARS protests in the state.
On their operations in the riverine communities and other hotspots, he said:
“Troops of the 4 Brigade are on clearance operation at suspected kidnappers hideouts at Ogbemudia oil palm plantation and the river behind it. We intend to disrupt all kidnapping activities along the axis and secure the Benin-Auchi Expressway,” he said.
Omozoje stated that he is in synergy with Brig. Gen. UM Bello, the Commander of 4 Brigade, and Sola Davis, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Zone 5, to rid the state of criminals.
