A report says Tom Ikimi, one time foreign affairs minister, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for playing a role in the arms buy scandal being currently probed. Saharareporters which published the report said Ikimi had been interrogated for two days and was allowed to return home each day he appeared before the EFCC due to his failing health. Ikimi was formerly of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, one of the legacy parties that fused into umbrella party – All Progressives Congress. He had midwifed the merger of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, All Nigeria Peoples Party and a handful of members of the All Peoples Grand Alliance, APGA to form the APC. The failure to realise an ambition to chair the new party, now ruling party, led to his resignation and bitter put down of his former political friends, particularly former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu.
