A container fell on a bus carrying passengers in the Ojuelagba axis of Lagos state, killing eight people (six adults and two children).
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed in a statement given to Newsbreak Nigeria on Sunday that the bus was picking up passengers when the vehicle lost control and crashed over the edge of the bridge.
According to LASEMA, eight people were killed in the terrible occurrence, including three adult males, three adult females, and a male and female children.
“Further investigations revealed that the bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge. After suspending the container load with the aid of the agency’s forklift, and cutting off the top of the bus with light rescue equipment, a single adult woman was extricated alive and taken to the trauma centre,” the statement read.
“A total of eight fatalities were recovered comprising of 3 adult males, 3 adult females, a girl child and a boy child,” the statement added.
However, according to several social media sources, the container fell as the trailer attempted to keep the yellow bus from overtaking it.
