Nasir El-Ruf ai, governor of Kaduna, has been chosen to lead a nine-man team to articulate the position of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on restructuring. Other members of the committee are Governors Rauf Aregbesola, (Osun); Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, (Kano); Simon Lalong (Plateau) ; Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); former Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor; Sen. Osita Izunaso, APC National Organising Secretary; Bolaji Abdullahi (APC National Publicity Secretary) and Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi (Secretary).
The party’s statement said “the various agitations on restructuring” informed the setting up of the committee, a decision taken at the party’s “fifth regular joint APC National Working Committee (NWC) /APC Governors meeting” held Wednesday.
El-Rufai, who leads the committee as its chairman, is known to opposed calls for restructuring on the basis that the term is ambivalent. His opposition has drawn sharp criticisms from some persons and groups, including the Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group.
