Microblogging platform, Twitter commenced the collection of an $8 subscription fee shortly for its blue services and verification after, Elon Musk took official ownership of the social media platform.
The desired blue checkmark would appear next to users’ profiles when they pay the $8 monthly charge, just like it does for prominent figures, organizations, and celebrities, according to the version notes for Twitter’s most recent upgrade, which was made accessible on Saturday.
According to Twitter, the new verification system would let users post longer videos and receive preference in searches, comments, and mentions. Additionally, the business announced that it would limit the number of advertisements that users see on the network.
The most recent upgrade shows how quickly Mr. Musk has changed the social networking company he recently bought. Over half of the site’s employees as well as the bulk of its top executives were sacked by the billionaire in the week after the acquisition of legal ownership.
The Twitter Blue membership plan is believed to have been supported by Mr. Musk as a solution to the social media platform’s declining revenue.
