The eNaira speed wallet application, the mobile app of Nigeria’s digital currency, has been restored to the Google Play Store, 24 hours after it was pulled down.
The eNaira has two applications — eNaira speed wallet and eNaira speed merchant wallet.
However, the app disappeared from the Google Play store on Wednesday after it received mainly negative reviews from Nigerians, despite having a download of over 100,000 users.
Many Nigerians had expressed disappointment with the tedious registration processes as part of the requirements.
Osita Nwanisobi, the spokesperson of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), confirmed on Thursday that the removal was to help the apex bank upgrade the app’s functionalities.
He said the application is now back online.
