American singers; Beyoncé Knowles and Rihanna, have condemned the shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters in Lekki.
Military personnel opened fire on demonstrators at Lekki Toll gate area of Lagos State on Tuesday night, killing a number of unconfirmed protesters and injuring about 24.
The incident has met with outrage, both local and international, with the two artistes, who have showed support to the movement against police police brutality in Nigeria, condemning the brutal use of force on the protesters.
Beyoncé disclosed that her organisation had been working to provide support to the protesters.
“I am heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria. There has to be an end to SARS…,” Beyonce wrote on Instagram.
Also, Rihanna posted a message and a picture of the Nigerian flag stained with blood on Twitter.
“I cant bare to see this torture and brutalization that is continuing to affect nations across our planet! It’s such a betrayal to the citizens, the very people put in place to protect are the ones we are most afraid of being murdered by! My heart is broken for Nigeria man!!
“It is unbearable to watch! I’m so proud of your strength and not letting up on the fight for what’s right! #EndSARS,” she said.
