The senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to act fast to stem the tide of the ongoing protests by Nigerian youths in order to avoid a total breakdown of law and order.
The cleric revealed this on Tuesday in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle in reaction to the ongoing #EndSARS protest lamenting police brutality occurring across the nation.
Adeyemi counseled the president to listen to the cries of the Nigerian youth and ensure that their yearnings are promptly attended to.
Speaking further, the pastor, decried the reluctance of the present crop of leadership to attend to the needs of the Nigerian populace.
He stated that the era of using intimidation to subjugate the wish of the people was over and that government should rather engage with the people to fashion ways of resolving matters of national interest.
“It is therefore totally deplorable that we would lead a government under which the police would spray water, throw teargas and shoot at peaceful protesters. Please order them to stop the attack on citizens protesting peacefully immediately. They should rather protect them,” Adeyemi tweeted.
He further called on the government to put in place a better welfare plan for the wellbeing of men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force as a way of encouraging them to continue to give their best.
