Etisalat Nigeria has changed its name to 9Mobile. The telecom has been writhing under a N541 billion debt and threat by creditors to take over the company. It became a double whammy for the troubled company as its UAE investors, Mubadala Group, requested it shed its brand identity in three weeks. The situation led to Hakeem Bello-Osagie, its former board chairman resigning and the appointment of Boye Olusanya, former deputy managing director of Celtel Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), his replacement.
