Adetutu Adefolabi-Eshiet, a daughter to House of Representatives member, Morufudeen Adefolabi, has confirmed her father’s death in the Hajj stampede, in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Adefolabi was a federal lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency between 2007 and 2011 and former chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council of Lagos state.
His daughter said: “My father’s death is still like a bad dream. I cannot believe he is dead. He was a father who cared so much about his children and their happiness. Even though he was a Muslim, he allowed me to marry a Christian and a non-Yoruba. He was totally detribalised. I have yet to come to terms with the news of his death. I find it difficult to mourn.’’
A family member was said to have told the Vanguard a travel agency told the family of Adefolabi’s death after he went missing.
