Daily Trust reports that Geoffrey Ogbonna, police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The newspaper quoted the NAN further that the deceased had been away for a while before resurfacing in Aba some days ago, where he met his untimely death.

But the report also said that an unnamed source claimed the information making rounds on social media that the deceased was killed by armed robbers was not true.

The source stated that Jacob was killed by suspected assassins, who shot him and left without taking his phone or anything from him.

He also said that the death of Jacob, nicknamed “Nikita Ara”, threw the people of the area into mourning because of his friendliness and popularity with the residents of the area.

Meanwhile, Ogbonna revealed that the police have commenced investigations into the matter, saying that no arrest had been made yet.

He further noted that the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary.
