Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the newly appointed chairman of the board of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his appointment.
Oyinlola, a former governor of Osu, said, “(being) a soldier and public administrator, I am very much aware that appointments such as this are given as call to service. I, therefore, rededicate myself to that service to Nigeria and its people. In particular, I pledge my loyalty to you and to the nation.
“While I take up the responsibility to coordinate the activities of the board, management and staff of the NIMC, I assure Your Excellency that promotion of public good and the general interest of the government and people of Nigeria will be my focus while on this assignment.”
Oyinlola was governor of Osun between 2003 and 2007. He was re-elected in 2007 for a second term of office but removed by an election petition tribunal and incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola sworn in in his stead.
Oyinlola had also been military administrator of Lagos between 1993 and 1996; he retired as a Brigadier- General in the Nigerian Army.
