Brigadier-General Tunji Olurin (rtd.), a former Military Administrator of Oyo State, has died.
Olurin died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, aged 77.
According to Funso Olurin, the deceased’s brother, the retired military general died after a brief illness.
The late Olurin hailed from Ilaro in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
He was appointed the Military Governor of Oyo State by the former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, and held forth from 1985 to 1988.
He was also the Field Commander of ECOMOG Peacekeeping Force in Liberia from 1992 to 1993 during the First Liberian Civil War.
He retired from active military service in 1993.
He then joined politics following the return of democracy to Nigeria and was appointed Sole Administrator of Ekiti State by ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo from October 8, 2006, till April 27, 2007.
He was the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the 2011 general election in Ogun State, but lost the election.
