Gbenga Aluko, a former federal lawmaker, has died at the age of 58.
Aluko, who represented Ekiti South Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003, died on Saturday after he collapsed in his office in Abuja, according to Television Continental (TVC).
The TV station reported that one of Aluko’s aides who spoke on condition of anonymity told Radio Nigeria that his principal was rushed to a hospital where he passed on.
Aluko, the aide was quoted as saying, was neither sick nor exhibited any symptom of sickness.
The deceased was the son of the renowned economist, the late Professor Sam Aluko.
He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the time he represented his constituency at the National Assembly.
He later contested the governorship ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State in 2018.
