Social media giant Facebook will be opening a new office in Nigeria in the second half of 2021. The office which will be the first in Africa to have engineers, is coming after Facebook opened its first office in Johannesburg in 2015.

According to Facebook’s Head of Product Experimentation, Ime Archibong, “the new office in Lagos, Nigeria presents new and exciting opportunities in digital innovations to be deployed from the continent and taken to the rest of the world”
“All across Africa we are seeing immense talent in the tech ecosystem, and I’m proud that with the upcoming opening of our new office, we will be building products for the future of Africa, and the rest of the world, with Africans at the helm. We look forward to contributing further to the African tech ecosystem” Archibong said.

In 2018, Facebook opened NG_Hub in partnership with CcHub in Lagos, followed by it’s Small Business Group (SBG) Operations Centre in 2019.

The SBG supports small and medium businesses in Sub-Sahara Africa through community and marketing training programmes to support the growth and development of these businesses.
