The Enugu State Police Command has arrested one Samuel Eze for allegedly posing as a police officer.
This was made known in a statement issued by Ebere Amaraizu, spokesperson of the Enugu Police Command, on Saturday.
According to the force, Eze was arrested on Friday by operatives of the command while on surveillance along Mgbemena in Coal Camp.
The statement explained that the suspect was dressed in attire resembling that of a police officer and had allegedly claimed to be a police officer before he was arrested.
But upon questioning, Eze was unable to “buttress his claim with convincing proof to the police officers who swooped on him”.
The statement read: “The suspect is regretting his action of presenting himself as a police officer and also helping the operatives in their investigations.”
Items recovered from the suspect include spray teargas, handcuff and a jackknife, the police said.
