Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has admitted looming insecurity in the country, urging Nigerians to consider 2023 presidential candidate who will establish peace, unity, and security.

Speaking in an interview with AIT, transcribed by NewsBreak, Fani-Kayode admitted there was a time under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration where Nigeria was close to breakup and separation.

He added that Nigerians shouldn’t consider just political parties but candidate who can develop the country.

He said: “Ahead of the 2023 general election, 2022 is going to be an active year for a new beginning breakthrough and a lot of political activities. Many of us have been waiting for this over the past few years and this is the time to rise to the plague that it’s either you make yourself available for election or you support where you want. It’s a very clear and fixed timetable and this year will move very fast that before you know it, it’s already the end of the year and elections will be taking place early next year.

“In all honesty, politics has started now. electioneering has started and we need to start making our different choices to ensure our country moves forward and we all should be able to make a contribution to events that will be happening.

“Absolutely, as election approaches, insecurity remains the major issue. What’s paramount are peace, unity, and security. What we are after is someone who can establish peace, unity, and security. Apart from political parties, individuals should start making a choice for who will establish peace, unity, and security so we don’t catapult ourselves into civil conflict or another civil war.

“This country was close to breaking up, separation, tribal war, religious conflicts, and so on. The government has been able to do it very well. Now we are going to make a change in few months’ time. a change of power and we need to ensure that the main issue which is life security.
