A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday, faulted the Defence Headquarters’ claim that it eliminated 30 of the terrorists who attacked troops of the Guards Brigade in Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday.

Newsbreak reports that the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said the operation was conducted by troops of 7 Guards Battalion and 167 Special Forces Battalion in conjunction with the air component of “Operation Whirl Punch” between Sunday and Tuesday.

According to the military officer, the troops successfully cleared Kawu and Ido villages neutralising the terrorists and destroying their enclave and hideout.

Nigeria is faced with an unprecedented wave of different but overlapping security crises – from kidnapping to extremist insurgencies – almost every corner of the country has been hit by violence and crime.

Despite this, the Muhammadu Buhari government has repeatedly insisted that security has improved under the president.
