Tanko Yakasai, an elder statesman, has confirmed that his son Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the Special Adviser on Media to Kano State Governor, has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Social media was rife early Saturday with reports of the disappearance of Salihu, properly known as Dawisu in the media space.
Narrating how his son was arrested, Yakasai said the governor’s aide was on his way to a barbing salon in Kano, the state capital, when he was arrested.
“Yes, Salihu is with the security operatives since yesterday (Friday). He was arrested on his way to a barbing saloon. But I cannot confirm to you whether he is here in Kano or somewhere else,” Yakasai told the Punch.
Salihu had on Friday called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to either deal with bandits in the country or resign, following the news of the kidnapping of schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress-led government has failed Nigerians, saying the government cannot continue to lament when tragedy occurs without taking any action to prevent a reoccurrence.
