Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has urged his supporters to desist from attacking Segun Oni, also a former governor, on social media.

He said this in a tweet on Sunday after Oni was received into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Friday.
“To my brothers & sisters in the PDP Osoko Political Family, having formally received Engr Segun Oni into the PDP at yesterday’s State Congress, henceforth,nobody should castigate,embarrass or undermine him (Oni) on any social media platforms associated withOsoko Political Family,” he tweeted.

Fayose urged the people to forgive Oni, saying he had showed true humility. He however said his tweet is not an endorsement of Oni’s governorship ambition.
“True leadership is demonstrated by forgiveness, followed by restoration after a show of true humility. However, this statement does not represent or amount to endorsement of Engr Segun Oni’s gubernatorial ambition,” he said.

Oni was Ekiti governor from 2007 to 2010 while he was a PDP member. He joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 and was the Deputy National Chairman (South).
