The Federal Government has said that the first section of Apapa-Wharf Road will be reopened to the public by mid March. This was revealed by Emmanuel Adeoye, Director of Highways, South West, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing on Wednesday during a tour of the road.
He said the project, jointly financed by the Federal Government and Dangote Industries and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc as a Corporate Social Responsibility, will be completed by June.
Adeoye said he was satisfied with the quality of materials used for the construction of the road, noting that it would be properly maintained. He said the construction had faced several challenges like gas pipelines, electric poles, cables and about six transformers. He said the work was being done by mostly Nigerians with only 16 expatriates.
He assured that the road would meet its June deadline for completion.
