Farouk Adamu Aliyu, a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, is in the news after a trending video as portrayed him saying that the people of Jigawa State will defend the oil deposited in Bayelsa State.
The video, which was recorded about five years and has currently gone viral on social media, depicted Aliyu insisting that the oil in the Niger Delta area of the country belongs to all Nigerians.
The Jigawa politician maintained that the proceeds from oil sales must be distributed to all states in the federation, adding that “anybody who thinks the oil of Bayelsa belongs to only Bayelsa is just deceiving himself”.

Aliyu, who was elected into the House under the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Congress (ANPP) before defecting to the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), also stated he would not mind should Nigeria be balkanised and Nigerians part to their different ways.
According to him, Nigerians do not seem to appreciate the gift of diversity which God has blessed the country with. He noted that citizens must learn that each individual comes from a different ethnic and cultural background and must accept to live together as one people or risk allowing the federation to disintegrate.
