Tony Okecheme, Director of Finance, Federal Capital Territory High Court, has been swept away by a flood in Abuja.
Reports say he was on his way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport before his car, a 2017 Toyota Camry, got stuck in a flood at Galadimawa roundabout.
His driver was said to have been saved by some young boys in the area. He was taken to the Asokoro hospital for treatment. Although the car was pulled out, Okecheme is yet to be found.
Punch Metro reports that eyewitnesses said officials of the National Emergency Management Agency who came to the scene could not rescue Okecheme, who had been trapped in the flood for about an hour.
Anjuguri Manzah, the FCT Police spokesman, said he had not been briefed about the incident.
