Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will play Guinea Bissau in the qualifying rounds of the 2019 African Youth Championship, scheduled for Niger Republic next year.
Guinea Bissau edged past their Sierra Leonean opponents 1-0 on aggregate in a preliminary match. The first leg ended 1-0 and the return led played on Saturday ended goalless.
The Nigerian team will play the first leg in Guinea Bissau on May 13, while the return leg is scheduled for Nigeria two weeks later.
The Flying Eagles have placed second at the FIFA U20 World Cup twice, and will be hoping to do better this time.
The team, which is currently camped in Abuja, had played friendlies against the Junior Pharaohs of Egypt in February. The Paul Aigbogun-tutored side recorded one win and a draw.
Poland will host the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2019.
