The fourth Stephen Keshi Annual Memorial Lecture will hold on 7 June at the Uyi Grand events centre in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Tijani Babangida, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Center (SKFVTC), on Thursday.
According to Babangida, a former Nigerian international, the lecture is part of activities to remember the late Stephen Keshi, a former captain and coach of the Super Eagles, who died on June 7, 2016.

“The 4th of the Stephen Keshi annual memorial lecture, with the theme “Traditional Institutions and Grassroots Sports Development in Nigeria: the CFF approach” to x-ray the role of traditional Institutions in Community Development and integration using Sports, especially Football as a major tool will be delivered by Nigeria ex-international and Facilitator of the Community Football Foundation, CFF Comrade Austin Popo,” the statement read.
Babangida stated that other events for the day include “the inauguration of members of the main organising committee of the 4th edition of the annual Stephen Keshi National Under 17 Football tournament, and the unveiling of the plans for the Fund Raising Football Match/ Dinner Award Night for the physical development of the Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Center Obazuwa in Ovia North East local Government Edo
State”.

The SKFVTC, according to the statement, was conceived as a public-private partnership project aimed at
immortalizing and to preserve the legacies and contributions of the late football legend. The land for the project was donated by His Royal Highness, Prince Edun Akenzuwa the Enogie of Obazuwa, in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.
Dignitaries expected at the event, as stated by Babangida, include Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, who is the Chief Host; Prince Akenzuwa, the Grand Patron of SKFVTC, who is the Royal Father of the day; Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, who is the Special Guest of Honour; and Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who is the Guest of Honour.
