Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, has urged Nigerians giving to the poor over the Coronavirus lockdown in the country, to only extend hands of love to the poor ones, and not those who carry around smartphones with data subscription.

Omokri, in a tweet on Monday, said Nigerians who possess smartphones belong to the middle class, however, noting that there is nothing wrong giving to them.
But he pointed out that the Holy Bible gave the specific instruction to give to the poor.

“Scripture says give to the poor. It does not say give to those with smartphones and regular data. If you think those are the poor, then you don’t know what poverty means. You are giving to the middle class (and there is nothing wrong with that),” Omokri wrote.
