An Oyo state High Court has directed the Commissioner of Police in the state to arrest one O.A Owolabi. The man, who is said to be a dealer in roofing sheets and other building materials, was said to have disappeared with his grandson following a court ruling, which gave his custody to his mother.
Justice Iyabo Yerima gave the order after complaints by the mother of the boy, Omolara, that Owolabi had taken her son, Fawaz into hiding.
The court had on January 15, 2018, dissolved the marriage between Omolara and Owolabi’s son, Babatunde and granted custody of the child to Omolara.
She however alleged that her ex-father-in-law escaped with the child after the judgment. The boy was said to have lived with his grandfather for five years in the Bodija area of Ibadan, before his parents were estranged.
She ordered that: “the said A. O. Owolabi be searched for anywhere he may be, arrested and brought before this court within seven days to show cause why he would not be charged with contempt of court and the boy, Fawaz Akorede Owolabi, to be produced by all means possible within the power of the police in this court as earlier ordered.”
