A coalition of civil society groups under the aegis of ‘Concerned Nigerians’ have marched to Aso Rock on Monday to demand President Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation. The group had said last Saturday that it would embark on the action to seek the President’s resignation over his continued absence from the country due to ill health.
They carried placards with inscriptions such as: ‘Buhari called for impeachment when Yar’Adua was sick, now we are calling for the same’, ‘Our ignorance must come to an end’, ‘Buhari Where are you? We are tired of being enslaved in our country’, ‘Our mumu don do o!’
They demanded that the President addresses the country in ‘a language we can all understand’. They advised that he resigns before the National Assembly commences impeachment processes against him.
Although the protest was peaceful, anti-riot policemen were deployed to the scene to prevent crowd trouble.
