A Civil Society Organisation YIAGA Africa, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to engage with the National Universities Commission to request that universities refrain from fixing examinations during the forthcoming election.
Making this call in a tweet, the group explained that the call was to enable students who represent the highest population of voters to exercise their civic rights.
“Dear @inecnigeria can you engage the National Universities Commission (NUC) to request universities to refrain from scheduling exams during the elections. This will enable students who represent the highest % of voters to exercise their right to vote,” tweet by YIAGA Africa read.
The group’s call comes as some higher institutions gear towards their semester examinations after strike actions disrupted the academic calendar of various institutions in 2022.
It also comes in the wake of allegations of smear attempts to deprive Nigerian youths of participating in the forthcoming general election.
