Ahmad Gumi, popular Islamic cleric, is currently meeting with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

TheCable reports that Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo’s spokesperson, confirmed the development.
“I am not there and the meeting is still going on,” Akinyemi was quoted as saying when asked what the meeting is about.
“It is not just the two of them present; it is stakeholders meeting holding at his residence here in Abeokuta.”
The meeting may not be unconnected to the rising insecurity in the country.

Gumi has been meeting with various stakeholders, as part of efforts to solve the issue of banditry plaguing the country.
The Kaduna-based scholar has called on the Federal Government to grant amnesty to bandits attacking Nigerians across the northern part of the country.

He has warned that bandits should not be castigated and referred to as criminals, if the government wants them to lay down their weapons.
