Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted seven people, including an infant in Taraba State.
The gunmen said to be numbering about 10, mounted a roadblock near Chanchangi town, located along Takum-Wukari road on Monday evening, and forced a commercial van conveying ten travellers from Takum to Wukari town into the forest.
According to Daily Trust, Maiwada Takum, a relative to one of the victims, said the kidnappers took seven people.
Takum said the gunmen also took a one-year-old boy from his mother, who was also travelling on the bus.
He said the van in which the passengers were travelling was later found in a Benue forest that shares boundary with Chanchangi town.
Takum said the kidnappers have not contacted them for ransom.
He said the mother of the infant is traumatised and has been hospitalised at a clinic in Takum.
He was quoted as saying that it is the second time in three months that kidnappers have abducted persons from Takum town travelling along Takum-Wukari road and almost at the same spot.
The Taraba State police command has not confirmed the incident.
