Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Aarom Ikuru, the traditional ruler of Ikuru town in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Ikuru was abducted from his residence on Sunday, Maurice Ikuru, the monarch’s spokesperson, confirmed in an interview.
“Yes, it’s true. It happened about 8:30 or 9pm,” the spokesperson told the Punch.
It was also learnt some boat travellers, including a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, who were returning to Port Harcourt, the state capital, from Andoni were kidnapped by armed men suspected to be pirates.
The Rivers Police Command confirmed the the kidnap of the travellers.
Nnamdi Omoni, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said investigation is ongoing to identify the abducted travellers.
“I can confirm that some persons who were coming back from Andoni were ambushed and kidnapped. Investigation is on-going to get the details,” Omoni stated.
