Gunmen suspected to be members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), have killed two people after attacking Gurmana, Old Gurmana, and Ashirika communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Villagers said the armed men numbering over 100, stormed the communities at about 10.00 am on Saturday, with some on motorcycles, Channels Televisions reports.
One unnamed villager was quoted as saying that people scampered for safety, as the attackers shot sporadically into the air.

He revealed that the attack started in Gurmana, where the gunmen reportedly killed two people and injured four others, before moving to Old Gurmana, where they rustled more than 200 cows.
The report said the police are yet to confirm the attacks, as well as the casualty figure.

Meanwhile, Sani Musa, senator representing Niger East, has confirmed the attacks.
