Some gunmen have attacked policemen at Egbu in Owerri and Owerre Nkworji in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

Reports say the robbers snatched a sergeant’s rifle and inflicted machete cuts in him on Monday at Nkwerre. They also set operational vehicles ablaze in the attack.
The Punch reports that a similar attack occurred at Egbu, Owerri, on Tuesday.

Another service rifle was reportedly snatched from one of the officers while machete cuts were also inflicted on him.
Isaac Akinmoyede, Commissioner of Police, confirmed the attack and snatching of rifles.
