Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped Bala Baba, a Senior Special Assistant to Darius Ishaku, Governor of Taraba State.
Leha Reform, the Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, who confirmed the incident, said Bala was abducted in his residence in Sabon Gari area at about 2:30am on Tuesday.
The police spokesperson stated that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators, he, however, noted that the abductors are yet to call to make their intentions known.
According to Leha, Ahmed Azare, the Taraba Commissioner of Police, has ordered for an investigation into the matter and promised to come up with positive results.
The state Police Command noted that it is collaborating with other security agencies, including vigilante groups, to ensure the abductee’s release.
The incident comes less than 48 hours after the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Peter Jediel was released after he was also abducted by unknown gunmen.
