Grace Ayanbimpe, a professor at the Department of Medical Microbiology, University of Jos, has been kidnapped with her husband.

The professor was kidnapped with her husband when gunmen stormed their residence at Lamingo in Jos North Local Government Area of the state on Monday, according to Daily Trust.
The newspaper said an official of the university who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident.
“This morning, we got information that Prof Grace Ayanbimpe of Department of Medical Microbiology was abducted from her residence along with her husband.

“Please, pray for their safe and quick release from their abductors. May we also see the end of insecurity in our country,” the official was quoted as saying.
A resident identified as Philip Dachung, said the gunmen broke into apartment of the victims at about 3:00am.
“The kidnappers came to their house around 3am, broke into their apartment and shot into the air. Neighbors who were terrified by sounds of gunshots could not come out for the fear of being hit by stray bullets.
“So, this morning, we discovered that the gunmen had taken the professor and her husband away. We don’t know where they are right now, ” he added.

Spokesperson of the Plateau State police command, Ubah Gabriel, who confirmed the incident, said operatives have been deployed to secure the release of the professor and her husband.
“The Command received a report of kidnapping of a man and his wife, behind Stanel Oil Lamingo, Jos . Tactical operatives have been deployed to the area. Concerted efforts are on towards rescuing the victims and arresting the perpetrators,” he said.
