Gunmen have reportedly ambushed and killed a Catholic priest, David Tanko, in Taraba State, setting him and his vehicle on fire.
The incident, which happened at Kufai Amadu in Takum Local Government Area of the state, occurred barely 24 hours after gunmen raided villages in the state.

Tanko was on his way to Takum for a peace meeting with his fellow clergymen on how to resolve the lingering Tiv-Jukun crisis when he was attacked and killed.
Shiban Tikari, Chairman of the council, told Channels Television that the priest was killed by Tiv militias. He said the slain clergyman was from the Wukari Local Government Area of the state.
The police are yet to confirm the report.
