The recent nomenclature for heartbreak amongst Nigerians is ‘Breakfast’. Many guard their hearts against this but just as a popular song sings ‘breakfast go reach everybody’.
Once you are an adult and you have physical, emotional and mental attraction to someone else, there is a probability the love story will crash, especially among young adults of 19 to 25.
Many Nigerians on Twitter are sharing their experience with the phenomenon and how they were able to heal from the emotional pain.
It all started when a Twitter user named Dayo shared how his parents flew in from another state to comfort him after his girlfriend broke his heart.
He wrote:
“I remember calling my parents to tell them someone I was chasing (that they also liked) had broken my heart. They actually changed their flight and flew in the next day. What I remember (and cherish most) is how I ran to them and we hugged for minutes, no words.
“I also remember the following weeks how scared my dad was to see me feeling utterly defeated. At that point I could have rebounded with Medusa, and my dad could have welcomed her. Anything to get over the heartbreak.”
