Hoodlums on Wednesday attacked the Anthony Village, Iju and Mosan areas of Lagos State.

Punch Metro reports that the hoodlums invaded residents’ houses in Shopade, Anike-Ibikunle and Koshemani streets in Mosan and dispossessed them of valuables.
In Anthony Village and Iju, reports say the attackers, numbering about 50, stormed the area and robbed residents.
A resident of Adebayo Mokuolu Street, Anthony Village, said the hoodlums came through the Gbagada Expressway. He said they however could not rob some residents because their streets had gates, adding that they vowed to return stronger.

A resident of Iju said several persons were arrested on Monday and Tuesday in broad daylight. He said the hoodlums wielded knives, vandalised vehicles and broke into people’s homes.
“On Tuesday, they went on rampage on Alfred Williams Street. So, at night, we prepared ourselves by forming vigilance groups. We informed the policemen at the Iju Police Station, Red House, but they never arrive on time.
“We seriously need increased police presence here if this lockdown will last longer,” Punch Metro quoted him to have said.

Bala Elkana, the police spokesman in the state, said security is being beefed up across the state.
He added that the discovery of a corpse, allegedly dropped by one Eze, caused the crisis at Mosan.

He stated that a case of murder was suspected, adding that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, for discreet investigation in a bid to unravel the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
