Mrs. Halima Tiamiyu, 34-year old housewife, has been remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, for allegedly biting off the finger of her neighbour, Mrs. Kate Ogbebor during fight. The incident happened at 27 Coker Street, Shasha, Lagos, where they reside. While fighting, Halima seized Kate’s right hand, stuck it her mouth and bit off a finger. Kate’s shriek and the damage done to her hand led to an abrupt end of the fight. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors said the finger bitten off had become lifeless and could not be put back where it was chopped from. The matter was reported at Shasha police division and Halima was arrested and taken to the station. Halima was arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for assaulting and inflicting permanent injury on Kate. She pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter.E. Nwaka, granted her bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of her bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 3 September 2014.
