The Rivers State government has shut the hotel, where an ECOWAS official infected with Ebola was treated by a local doctor, who is now dead.

The Mandate Hotel and Gardens, Rumuokoro, Port Harcourt, where the ECOWAS official lodged was deserted by Sunday.

The clinic of Dr. Iyke Samuel Enemuo,  the doctor who died of Ebola in  Port Harcourt, is close to the hotel .

Enemuo died on 22 August after being infected by his patient.

His wife, also  a medical doctor and nursing a three month old baby  has also tested positive to Ebola and has been moved to the isolation facility in Lagos.

Rivers State Health Commissioner, Sampson Parker, told journalists in Port Harcourt that staff of the clinic have not been confirmed to contracted the Ebola virus. “They have not been confirmed (as having Ebola) and we are waiting for the result of the investigation,” he told a news conference.

Parker appealed to those who had contact with Enemuo at the hotel, his clinic, the ECOWAS official or the hotel where he stayed to contact the his ministry immediately because early treatment is very important.
