Shehu Sani, senator who represented Kaduna Central in the eighth National Assembly, has inferred mismanagement of funds in the Nigerian military, over reports that soldiers fighting insurgency are confronted with insufficient weapons.

Sani, an activist, said trillions of naira has been pumped into the war against Boko Haram in the North-east, but the military remains unequipped, while capital-intensive projects such as hotels, shopping malls are found in the villages of former service chiefs.

”For years, the Government pumped trillions into Defence and the military remains without adequate weapons and equipments to fight the terrorists;All you see is Shopping Malls,Event Centers and Hotels; And Universities located in the villages of the former service Chiefs,” Sani wrote on Sunday.

Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South and chairman, Senate Committee on Army, revealed last month after members of the terrorist group overran a military base and killed more than 30 soldiers in Mainok area of Borno, that troops do not have sufficient weapons, citing it as the cause of the casualty figure.
