A dispatch rider was last Saturday robbed in broad daylight in Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
A young man saw an electronic company’s advert online and placed an order for an Apple laptop to be delivered to him. The person who made the order was expected to pay on delivery.
The receiver did not give a definite address but was calling the dispatch rider to lead him to his exact location under the the pretence that the area didn’t have a definite address.
They lured the dispatch rider into a solitary location where six of them were in a Lexus Ex 300, four of them approached him to receive the laptop. They also seemed to make some calls.
After some minutes, one of them pulled a gun out and threatened to shoot the rider if he doesn’t drop the laptop and his personal phone .
The rider did not drop his phone and they drove off before people could notice.
The victim pursued the attackers’ car and they saw him through their side mirror, came down to beat him and cut off the hose supply fuel to the bike. As soon as they saw that the rider was helpless, they drove off.
Unknown to them, the rider had taken pictures of two of the six men while they were discussing how to make payments for the laptop.
This news medium understands that the matter has been reported to Ijede police station.
