The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command Benjamin Hundeyin has narrated how the father of a five-year-old got lynched while attempting to transport his son’s corpse to the village for burial.
Narrating the ordeal that almost led to the death of the father, Hundeyin, in a tweet on Tuesday detailed that the father got lynched while attempting to transport the corpse of his 5-year-old son, who died after a brief illness, to the village.
The family had insisted that the 5-year-old be buried in the village after his death. The father was intercepted after a passerby raised an alarm after spotting him with the corpse, and was almost killed in the process.
“A 5yr old boy took ill & died overnight. Family insisted he be buried in the village. Father and one other went to bus terminal with corpse. Passersby raised alarm and resorted to lynching. Police came to the rescue.”
The Lagos Command police spokesperson further advised citizens to avoid bringing dangerous suspicion on themselves at all costs.
