A woman, Tifeh Adunni, has said she dumped her boyfriend following her experience with his mother, who, she said, showed her real colour even before she walked down the aisle.

Narrating her experience on Twitter, Adunni said trouble began when her supposed mother-in-law asked her to cook soup and she used a large chunk of pepper.

In her defence, Adunni said that is how she cooks and it is not a big deal. She, however, accused her supposed mother-in-law of continuously yelling at her despite her explanation.

‘‘She asked me to cook soup one day, and I used all the pepper. Normal way to cook. This woman shouted at me and said the pepper she can use for two weeks. I was like wow, in my mind 500 Naira pepper? I apologized and explained that I didn’t know, she said she has heard. She kept talking and talking, I started feeling so bad, and I went out to buy another pepper.

‘‘After blending it, I kept it in the freezer and went back to her and apologized again and told her I made provision for another. She said is that how we waste food in my house? That’s it’s not allowed here and all. I tried so hard to fight back tears that day. I just lost interest,” she wrote.

Adunni went forward to call out men. She insisted men know how badly their mothers behave to their spouses but ‘then are we even ready for this conversation”.

She wondered why women behave in such a way, especially since women are the ones who give birth to their sons, adding that some of them may have experienced harassment in their husband’s home and should, therefore, not continue such “cruel behaviour”.

‘’Its not that a lot of guys don’t know what’s up, but then are we even ready for this conversation? When I see mothers and daughter in law issues, and I see people advising the man to divorce the wife, e dey always do me one kind. No be born the wife too,” she wrote.
