Nigerian comedian, Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has revealed that he met his wife in a bank.

MC Tagwaye got married last month to the daughter of Maryam Uwais, a special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on social investments.
The comedian, who is a twin, became popular for imitating Buhari, both in mannerism and speech.

In an interview with Daily Trust on Saturday, he disclosed that the romantic journey with his wife started when she was still studying at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, in Katsina State.
“We met in the United Bank for Africa. I asked her for a pen in order to fill some documents, and when I was done, deliberately did not return it to her.

“I then approached her with the words ‘you have forgotten your pen,’ and that was how we got talking and subsequently exchanged phone numbers”, he said.
According to him, his wife had no idea who he was, until later in their relationship.

The comedian, who was born in Katsina but hails from Anambra State, said Tagwaye in Hausa means twins, so he decided to adopt it as his stage name.
“My twin brother is still alive so I chose to go by the name Tagwaye,” he also said.
He was a classroom teacher for over seven years before going into comedy.
